Walworth Town Hall
The Grade II listed Walworth Town Hall in South London, severely damaged by fire in 2013 and previously listed as “Heritage at Risk,” has undergone a remarkable transformation. The 50,000 sqft restoration carefully balances heritage preservation with modern functionality, featuring flexible office spaces, co-working desks, a public café, and versatile event spaces. Sustainable design was integral to the project, incorporating a Glulam frame and Cross-Laminated Timber floors while restoring original elements such as vaulted ceilings and oak floors. Officially removed from the “Heritage at Risk” register in 2024, the revitalised building now serves as a thriving cultural hub, supporting local SMEs, creatives, and the wider community, and stands as an exemplary model of sustainable heritage restoration.
